Insights from Leadership. Tiffany Hamel Johnson, President & CEO of Chicago United

Keep Hope Alive

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., a true champion of access and opportunity not just here in Chicago but throughout the world. This great loss is even more poignant during this, the centennial Black History Month recognition, and triggered a necessary moment to reflect and double down.

Rev. Jackson long stood as a guiding light in the ongoing pursuit of opportunity and access for all. His unwavering commitment to inclusive business practices challenged the world. His battle for economic inclusion - access and opportunity for MBEs - laid the foundation for modern corporate standards. Through his leadership and advocacy, Rev. Jackson inspired countless individuals to take action and put in the work to achieve these ideals.

As we pause to reflect on Rev. Jackson's attainments and the enduring impact of his legacy, we are also reminded of the importance of carrying his vision forward in our own work. Like Rev. Jackson, Chicago United is a bridge builder, uniting people from all backgrounds to champion more inclusive business practices.

While we mourn the loss of this once in a lifetime leader, we will continue to carry the vision of inclusion forward. And we will continue to "Keep Hope Alive." Be well,
