Update on the Announcement of the
2019 Business Leaders of Color 
Since 2003, Chicago United's  Business Leaders of Color publication has identified nearly 370 board-ready candidates. BLCs have served in more than 230 corporate directorships. We look forward to building on this exceptional record this year. We want to update you on where we are in the process. 

About the process: 
The BLC selection is a nearly yearlong process, with four levels of review once nominations are received. 

Screening - a general review to ensure each candidate fulfills the basic criteria of the program. 
Ranking - a deeper dive into each candidate's qualifications that results in a ranking.
Selection - identification of the top approximately 50 candidates. 
Final Review - final approval of the list of candidates by a team of CEOs. 

Next steps:
We are now at the Final Review point, and anticipate that the 2019 BLCs will be notified by the end of May. Nominees who were not selected this year also will receive notification. We will begin production on the publication in June. 

The new Business Leaders of Color will be officially honored, and the publication unveiled, at a private reception in September. The group also will be recognized at our Bridge Awards Dinner on Nov. 7. 

We'd like to take this moment to thank everyone who has participated in the process this year, from nominators to committee members and, of course, our talented, accomplished nominees. We appreciate everyone's contributions!
